I
began my yoga investigations in 1986 while living in Newport, RI. While
studying with a local teacher, I pursued classes at the Kripalu Center
for Yoga & Health in Lenox, MA. After moving to the Eastern
Shore of VA, I went back to Kripalu and completed a 200-hour residential
teacher certification program in 1993 under the direction of Jeffrey
Migdow, MD. Since that time, I have been teaching yoga on the Eastern
Shore of Virginia and in the NY/NJ area.
Since 2008, I have been on staff at Williamsville Wellness, a residential alcohol and gambling rehab facility in Hanover County, VA. I offer occasional classes at the University of Richmond and teach privately in the city of Richmond. In 2011, I will complete Kripalu's 500-hour certification program.
In 1996, I completed Level 3 practitioner training with Michael Lee
in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. This training had a profound affect
on my teaching. I also pursued in depth studies in anatomy and
physiology and received certification from the American College of Sports
Medicine in 1998.
In 2001, I was blessed to become a student of Swami Shantimurti Saraswati
of Ashram Yoga in New Zealand. I received training in Yoga Nidra,
which offers deeply healing relaxation and is an integral part of my
classes today.
In private sessions, I offer my clients personalized instruction incorporating aspects of both personal training and yoga. This combination of expertise has been extremely popular and beneficial to everyone who has worked with me over the years.
Namaste,
Evelyn
